Ep 22 Many Women Many Stories - How our Hair Shapes our Identity

In this podcast we listen to multiple voices from women (including my own) telling their stories of vulnerability or power about their hair, how a hair cut changed their life, what other people thought about it, changes that came over time or abruptly, that impacted their life and how they felt about themselves.

My kid, I think, said it best and most succinctly. When I asked her if it should be a big deal when a woman decides to cut off all her hair she said, “Well if it feels like a big deal to them then definitely support that, but if they are like this is no biggie then you shouldn’t make a huge deal out of it.” Simple.

I realized after listening to these stories that this was just the tip of the iceberg. That there are so many more stories that we didn't tell. But here are a few. May they remind you of your own story, inspire you, make you laugh or challenge you to see the impact of a change in a woman’s hair in a way you hadn't before.

I asked the women who shared their stories to send in some portraits for us to use. Here are some of the images I got. A few of my daughter and I before and after our hair cuts as well as some wonderful portraits of all kinds of styles from the past to now!
